OAC 3301-24-05 (2003) requires school nurses to hold a professional pupil services license which allows them to work with children of any grade level. The code also requires school nurses to hold a professional pupil services license, possess a bachelor's degree, and a current license as a registered nurse. ORC 4723.09 (2002) requires the completion of an approved registered nurse education program and the passing of a board approved examination for licensure as a registered nurse.

For an occupational therapist, a minimum of six months of supervised fieldwork experience is required.

Candidates with qualifying degrees and internships have a choice of applying for admission to examination under the new law, if desiring to use any qualifying pre-internship supervised experiences toward the 3,600 hour requirement. The new law provides an optional pathway to psychologist license eligibility without requiring, under certain circumstances, post-doctoral training. Candidates applying under the new law shall have: 1) an earned doctoral degree in psychology or school psychology from a program that holds accreditation, designation, or approval by the APA Commission on Accreditation, the CPA Accreditation Office, Designation by the ASPPB/NR, or approval by NASP (for school psychology doctoral degrees only); and, 2) a qualifying pre-doctoral internship no less than 1,500 hours and no greater than 2000 hours accrued in a period of no less than nine months (school psychology doctorates) and no more than 24 months. Internship supervision/training criteria must be met for non-accredited/non-APPIC member internships. Also, certain pre-internship supervised experiences may be included as part of the required 3,600 hours, if they meet specific criteria in the Board's regulations. Post-internship, including post-doctoral supervised experiences, may be included as part of the required 3,600 hours if they meet specific criteria.

Minimally, a candidate must be of good moral character, have a master's degree in social work, a current social worker's license from the Ohio counselor and social worker board, and either have one year of successful experience in a chartered school or school district under a professional license, one year of successful experience as a licensed Ohio social worker, or have completed a 10 week graduate social work practicum in a chartered school or school district.
375 hours of supervised clinical practicum , of which 25 clock hours shall be clinical observation prior to beginning initial clinical practicum and 350 clock hours shall be clinical practicum. 250 of the 375 clock hours shall be at the graduate level in the area in which licensure is sought.
