Meet the minimal requirement to work in the Early Intervention system as Early Intervention specialist under an entry level provisional certification. To receive advanced certification, acquiring additional practice hours in MDPH certified Early Intervention programs is needed. 1) Internship Requirement: the first 1,600 hours of a health service provider’s supervised experience are to be completed as internship or formal training. Internships that are APA-accredited are accepted as meeting requirements. Health services internship must be post-practicum. At least one-fourth of the hours are to be spent with clients, providing treatment or administering assessments. At least half the supervision must be provided by a licensed psychologist. At some point in the program, the student will need four hours of training in the racial and ethnic basis of behavior. 2) Post-Doctoral experience: The Board requires 3200 hours of qualifying supervised experience. At least one year of this must meet all the requirements for a “health Service Training program” (that is, an internship). A year is defined as no less than 43 weeks/10months.
